Samantha Chan (She/Her) - CO-PRESIDENT
About me: Hello!! I'm Samantha, one of your co-presidents this year! You will often find me in the trumpet section. Otherwise, you will find me locked in on my readings/essays, grinding out a multi-errand day, organising my google calendar, or hustling towards the sun.
Why I love TMB: I love the TMB because we own a stepladder that I can feel tall on.

Kieran Douglas (He/They) - DRUM MAJOR
About me: Hi my name is Kieran and I’m one of the co drum majors this year. When I get to play an instrument I’m in the drumline. In my free time I get to game master for my friends and I watch jazz around the city.

Jess Tse (She/They) - DRUM MAJOR

Frequently Asked Questions
What time does the TMB meet for rehearsals and performances?
Rehearsals are held at 7-9 on Tuesdays. We typically perform at sports games on Friday nights. We also have varying gigs throughout the year that typically happen during weekends.
How much are the club fees?
Club fees are $15 for UBC students and $25 for non-UBC students.
How can I access the music library?
Ask an club exec to give you access to the google drive! You can contact them through the TMB discord server.
What if I'm new to marching band or band in general?
That's ok! There are no auditions to join (except for drumline), and we will teach you everything! Talk to an exec if you ever feel like you need more help, and we will be happy to guide you! You can also borrow instruments from us by messaging our quartermaster.
How is marching band different from concert band?
Marching band is definitely a different experience! We move and play, instead of sitting down. We also focus more on pep songs like chants and pop hits, rather than longer songs typically played in concert band.
I haven't played in a while. Is your music difficult?
The songs we play most often are all sight-readable and easy to learn, with a few more challenging ones we like to work on every once in a while. Don't worry if you can't get it right away. Take it slow! Our band has members of all skill levels, so you are not alone :)
I don't go to UBC. Can I join?
If you are under 18 years of age, you must be enrolled into UBC to join. This is to ensure that we're able to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. If you are over 18, you are welcome to join even if you don't go to our school!
I don't have my instrument. Can I borrow one?
We have instruments to lend out on a first come first serve basis.
